The South East Queensland Schools PPP Project, under a ground breaking Private Public Partnership with the Queensland Government, has seen the delivery of six primary schools (Bayview, Peregian Springs, Augusta, Woodlinks, Coomera Rivers and Brightwater) and one secondary school (Murrumba Downs Secondary College).

A particularly outstanding achievement has seen all the Aspire Schools awarded a minimum 4 Star Green Star Education Design and as built v1 rating by the Green Building Council of Australia. Two of the schools were the first awarded nationally under the Green Star Education rating tool, whilst Coomera Rivers achieved the first 5 Star Green Star - Education Design v1 certification for a state school nationally. By the end of PPP contract, Broad completed 14 Green Star submissions to cover all the schools; seven for ‘Design’ and seven for ‘As Built’.
As Design and Construct Contractor within the Consortium, Broad was responsible for the planning, design and construction of all seven school campuses.

This required the development of a master plan for each site which included integrating the site into existing and planned roads and infrastructure, the layout and design of all classrooms, administration facilities, outdoor circulation, play and sports facilities, landscaping, internal roads and car parking, and provision for future expansion.

Stage One of the construction of each school involved the provision of sufficient classrooms and infrastructure for the school to commence operating with a restricted intake of students and to function independently for two years.

The Stage Two works at each school involved developing the school to full capacity with the provision of additional classrooms, specialist teaching facilities and school halls while the schools continued to operate.

At the end of the project Broad’s work has provided new facilities for over 5,750 students, adding in excess of 53,200m2 of educational buildings.
