Broad Construction has reached a major project milestone in its delivery of Queensland Health’s Gold Coast University Hospital Sub-Acute Expansion project with the five-storey building recently topped out.
Prior to topping out of the building, the Broad Construction project team delivered a raft of works, including the installation of three precast cores and four suspended slabs over four levels.
Broad Construction Operations Manager Cameron Kirkwood said the latest milestone marks 10 months of construction.
“What you see here is the result of dedication from our 70-strong team. A tremendous amount of work went into bringing this to life,” he explains.
With the expansion’s structure now complete, work has commenced on the building's façade. In addition, teams are working across the site to install elevators, a substation, and air conditioning equipment.
Broad Construction’s delivery of this project involves constructing new facilities adjacent to the main hospital, providing 70 new beds within a new In-Patient Unit, as part of the Accelerated Infrastructure Delivery Program.
